Mahavir Jayanti 2012 was a special occasion for the Jains in Singapore as it was our society’s 40th Anniversary. This auspicious festival was celebrated for 3-days (Friday April 13 to Sunday April 15) by inviting a musical group from India led by Vijaybhai Doshi. Vijaybhai is a well-known name in Jain events and musical programs run in India and overseas. The group of 6 persons, which included singers, narrator and musicians orchestrated the 3-days religious program and performances that left the audience spellbound.
- The first day opened with a symphony of musical Bhaav vandana to Navkar Mahamantra by the topic “Navkar Kare Bhav Paar” performed to a houseful audience.
- The second day was a blast with children from Singapore Jain Shala performing “Nem-Rajul” to a well-directed and professionally executed skit. This followed by a Musical Audio Visual of Mahavir Swami Janma Kalyanak, that engaged the audience in an antakshari atmosphere till late in the night.
- The last day began with prize giving for Jain Shala children and followed by narration of 18-Paap Stahanak in a rhythmic mix of story and songs – “Aa Paapmay Sansar chodi shravan hu kyare banu”. The show ended with a sumptuous Sangh Jaman prepared by our very own members of Jain society.
